Privacy Policy for Wavelet

Last Updated: June 26, 2024

Thank you for using Wavelet, an audio journal application. This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you use our application.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information in the following ways to provide and improve the service:

A. Information You Provide to Us:

  • Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address for authentication purposes. This is handled securely via Supabase Auth.
  • Audio Recordings: The core function of Wavelet is to create audio journals. We collect and store the audio files you record within the app.
  • Journal Metadata: You may voluntarily add titles to your recordings. This information is stored alongside your audio.

B. Information Collected Automatically:

  • Location Data: With your permission, we collect your device's geographic location (latitude and longitude) at the time you make a recording. This information is used solely to automatically generate a suggested title for your entry (e.g., "City Name - Date"). You can deny location permission, though this will limit the automatic titling feature.
  • Usage Data: We use backend services (Supabase) that may collect standard technical information, such as your IP address and device type, for the purpose of providing the service and for security analytics.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To Provide and Maintain the Service: To authenticate you, store your audio journals, and allow you to access them.
  • To Personalize Your Experience: To use your location to suggest relevant titles for your journal entries.
  • To Communicate With You: To send you one-time passcodes for signing in. We will not send you marketing emails.

We do not sell your personal data or share it with third-party advertisers.

3. Third-Party Services

We rely on a third-party service to power Wavelet's backend functionality:

  • Supabase: We use Supabase for user authentication, database storage (for your journal metadata), and file storage (for your audio recordings). All your data is stored securely on Supabase's servers. You can view their privacy policy here.

4. Data Security

We are committed to protecting your data. We leverage the security measures provided by our backend partner, Supabase, to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, and disclosure.

Your Privacy is Paramount: We cannot access, listen to, or share your audio recordings. They are stored securely and are only accessible to you through your account.

5. Your Rights and Data Control

You are in control of your data.

  • Access and Modification: You can access your recordings and modify their titles at any time within the app.
  • Data Deletion: We provide you with the ability to permanently delete your account and all associated data. You can do this from the Settings screen within the app by tapping "Delete Account". This action is irreversible and will permanently erase your user account, all audio recordings, and all associated metadata.

6. Children's Privacy

Wavelet is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will take steps to delete it.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new privacy policy within the app or on our website.
